i am not at home i dont have the modem but the huawei brand is x509, and the model is k4201
i used this /> i tried using a dell inspiron 1525 but its also not working, and the usb mode is not detected on windows 7. i have to use ubuntu. afaik it is a usb modem.

i am having micromax k4201 usb modem. i am able to connect to internet via wi-fi. i want to use this for my mobile but it is not working. at all. i have followed every step in the link given on the thread you sent. i am using linux mint 13. i have also tried the steps given here but nothing worked.
can you please suggest what i am missing.

hi, i have a micromax x509 usb modem. i am using ubuntu 12.10. i followed the steps in the link you provided, i got the error msg “usb_modeswitch: operation not supported on device with a modem” on step 8. i tried using “kernel 3.5.0-26 generic” instead of “kernel 3.0-21 generic” but it still did not work. i tried this with both windows and ubuntu 12. i also tried step 9 with “kernel 3.0-26-generic” and it did not work either. can anyone help me?

yes,if u can unlock it,u can use it.it is really easy to unlock.u just have to find a wrong code which can unlock ur modem.and then u can use it.u have to insert the wrong code then put the correct code.i have an experience.pls don’t worry.if u have a wrong code,i think u have a lot of time to find the right code.and i think u have to try for at least 2 days.

i am having all my unlocking code and everything was going correct but, once i have updated my modem and its dashboard changed. i was using aircel pocket internet 3g and then it becomes aircel pocket internet super pro 3g. now if i use other sim the net donot work. dashboard contains fixed access point. it canot be changed. and everytime i uninstall and again instal the modem its shows the same dashboard software. is the anything possible to change the dashboard to its lower version software. software ver : 21.005.20.01.850 firmware ver : 11.126.13.00.00 hardware ver :cd6atcpu
hi, i am using a mobile broadband connection with micromax 352g 3g usb modem. no network manager applet is present. i have installed networkmanager. and now when i restart my machine, i am getting a error message as “you need to configure manually your network connections”. i cant see any option to configure any network connection. can any one help me to configure the network connection manually. thanks i have network manager 0.8.6. i followed all the steps above. but my micromax 353g usb modem is not connecting to internet. one doubt, when i add a new mobile broadband connection, there is this username and password, but for airtel 3g there is no such username or password, so i just left blank and saved the connection. upon restarting the pc without unplugging the usb, i can see my connection at the network connection list. but it is not connecting. need help will be greatly appreciated. im a new bee to ubuntu, hope i can change from windows and permanently use ubuntu.
